Tailored vests

The vest for men is the only item of clothing to have a birth certificate: on October 18, 1666, Charles II, King of England, Scotland and Ireland, introduced by decree a garment that his diplomats at the Shah of Persia had discovered and appreciated.

In its three and a half centuries of history, the vest has dressed men, sharing their story, becoming in many cases a symbol, a distinctive element of a human category.

Think about the dusty vest of cowboys, of explorers, of all those men who advance towards the unknown, guided by their courage and by the stars, or the eccentric vest of the Teddy Boys – the English boys of the 50s’ who match it with a suit with studied nonchalance: pièd de poule and tartan, paisley and Prince of Wales check (glencheck). Or the fierce vest born for those who practice equestrian sports and shooting, interwoven with action and fair play.

However, the best known vest may be that of the formal clothing, woven in the same fabric of the dark uniform of businessmen, industrialists, politicians: essential accessory.
